August 28, 2011 - Orangeburg, NY - Hurricane Irene hit Rockland County, NY.  Photo shows a flooded Memorial Park in Nyack.  Photo by Richard Kavesh.

Luck for us only some braches from the trees fell down, although some were quite large.  Pool was covered with leaves and twigs, and with the winds still blowing quite strong, we couldn't clean it fast enough.

January 28, 2010 - Toyota's Sticky Gas Pedal  Read some information on the DETAILS of the problem from the design perspective.  It is very easy to charge companies of shoddy design practices or neglect for choosing the cheapest alternative.  We also incriminate them for their apparent slow response, but sometimes there IS MORE to the story then is published in main stream media.  Here is a LINK to an article in Design News with a realistic perspective on the problem.  It appears, in hind sight, that brake pedal override computer code should have been implemented in the "Drive-By-Wire" system, but the system was new and many competing issues were probably driving the design process.  Anyway, take a read for an interesting perspective - Bruce

March 16, 2007 - West Haverstraw, NY

After completing a 9 - 1 season the "Blauvelt 9" team swept through today's tournament winning all three games it played.  The first game was the toughest, with an early start and a fast and aggressive opponent.  By the second game the boys had found their rhythm with a tight defense and the usual high scoring offense.  By one o'clock in the afternoon it was all over but the pizza and hotdogs.  Congratulations boys, you deserved it this year.

Thanks to our coaches for their time and motivation.  Thank you Haverstraw Police Athletic League for a good season.

The Raiders win 2 of 3 in the "end of season" tournament.

November 18, 2007, Pearl River, NY:  What a finish to the soccer season.  We played three short "tournament" games, but play them we did!  Everyone brought their "A" game today and it was impressive.  The first game we won in an "end of game" shoot out.  Next we blanked a very tough team 2 - 0.  Then, though we lost in the end 1 - 0, we played the championship game with a championship effort.  We are very proud of this Raiders team and hope to see many of you back again next year.

Tappan Zee 6, Binghamton 3: In the final of the James "Ace" Morabito tournament in Binghamton, tournament MVP Julie Pacino had two RBI and a home run. Teammate Lauren Rooney had two RBI. After beating New Rochelle (1-0) and Section 4-Vestal (2-1) on Saturday, the Dutchies were back at it again. They beat Section 4-Chenango Valley (3-1) and doubled up Section 4-Binghamton (6-3). I don’t think anyone would argue that Tappan Zee has hit its stride. After opening the season with a 2-5 record, the Dutchies are 14-1 in their last 15. First-year coach Gene Kousoulas could not have asked for anything better to have his the defending sectional Class A champions peaking in time for the postseason. While catcher Julie Pacino has been bashing the ball, the Dutchies have all been contributing, especially freshman Tayla Gardner who has emerged as TZ’s reliable No. 2 windmiller and a good hitter. After beating New Rochelle, 1-0, Gardner three-hit Vestal and collaborated with Michelle Wedemeier, who beat Chenango Valley, to four-hit Binghamton. Tappan Zee has played itself into one of the top four seeds in the upcoming Section 1 Class A Sectional Tournament along with Hen Hud (the projected top seed), Pearl River, Eastchester and Lourdes.
